In Loving memory of Luis MendezRay Schalk
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
Here in San Diego we are saddened by the sudden passing of our dear brother Luis Mendez. On Friday, May 10th at the age of 60, Luis was called home to be with the Lord. He was an amazing husband, father, son, mentor, big brother, confidant, advisor, uncle & faithful friend to many. We called him “Doctor Love” due to the way he was able to make anyone he encountered feel so special. Luis was instrumental in helping to lead the San Diego Church serving both as an elder and evangelist, overseeing several ministries in Mexico, as well serving on the ICOC Elders Service Committee.
Our hearts break for Silvia his wife of 28 years, his son Luis Jr., his daughter Jennay and extended family during this time. We ask for you to keep the family in your prayers. If you would like to contact the family please send all communication to Ray Schalk – firstname.lastname@example.org
As we face each new day, let us remain faithful to God, entrusting ourselves to Him & allowing Him & His Word to comfort us. Let us also comfort each other in our grief and honor the life Luis led as a faithful servant of Christ, a life that was full of hope, happiness, faithfulness, laughter, and love. As one global family today let us mourn, cry, embrace one another, listen to each other, hug each other, pray together and consider how precious every day is. Luis has reached the goal of his faith, the salvation of his soul. “Well done good and faithful servant.”
There will be a memorial service held in San Diego.
