Changing DestiniesEd Wortham
Jayvon Jones met his wife, Nivea, in Bahrain, while they were working there. She became a christian there and followed him to San Diego soon shortly after his transfer. While she was still in Bahrain, Nivea urged Jayvon to go to church by himself to visit the group his wife had become a part of. I met Jayvon at a church service and we began a friendship. We hung out, enjoyed meals, and began helping each other, and I then asked him to study Bible together. It was often difficult to get our schedules to work out. However, prayer, patience, and persistence proved vital.
Nivea and her son Julian arrived from Bahrain last year. She was instrumental in showing her faith and support, and regularly opened up her home for Bible Talks. My wife Linda and I, as well as many others from our Bible Study group continued to build a great relationship with Jayvon and Nivea. The Jones family grew in their Love for God and serving. They recently have served in the Acts Brigade events. With much love and support Jayvon Jones made Jesus Lord of his life and was baptized on April 4th. Welcome to your spiritual family, Jayvon!
