Church Prom – What is it Anyway?Mallory Melcher-Post
This year, and every year, teens that have made the commitment to being a baptized disciple are given the opportunity to attend a very special event catered to high school junior and seniors.
In church vernacular, this event is known as “church prom“, but what does that mean anyway?
As you can imagine, making Jesus Lord in high school is a very challenging commitment, and these young men and women are constantly faced with a lot of pressure. The LA churches of Christ host this amazing event annually to encourage and inspire these teens with a special dance that is VERY different than the school dance environment which in most cases, can be very worldly.
On May 6th, teen disciples from the SDCOC went on encouragement dates to this special event. The theme was “Beyond the Sea” and the dinner and dance were both held on a yacht in Marina Del Rey, California! It was so special to see the teens bond, connect, and have a blast with like-minded young adults from all over the southwest.
The girls were beautiful, radiant, and modest and the teen boys were handsome gentlemen the whole night.
It was a special and memorable evening for these very spiritual young people.
